MISSION - WHAT WE DO

The goal of Troop 927 is to provide a quality scouting experience that will allow the scouts to develop leadership and life skills as they advance through the Scouting ranks. Chartered since 1953 in Los Angeles and at Covenant Presbyterian Church since 1965, Boy Scout Troop 927 has been serving the Westchester community. With the change to Scouts USA, our linked Girl's Troop 927 started in March 2019. Currently, there are over 40 Scouts, both boys and girls, participating in our scouting program. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have national standards and guidelines that each troop is required to follow. These standards are outlined in the Scout Handbook. However, each troop achieves its goals in different ways, depending on its members and leaders. Therefore, each Scout program is the same but unique because it is a reflection of the leadership and the community it serves.

SERVICES - HOW WE DO IT

The Westchester community is one of the strongest Scouting communities in Southern California and we are fortunate for the support we receive.  Giving back to the community is not optional; it is required as a Scout and as a member of the Troop. Through various events and Eagle projects, the Troop has performed services that have benefited our schools, churches, libraries, and parks.  In addition to the required service hours, the focus on community service is essential to the personal development of the Scout. There is an inherent trust that is associated with Scouts USA and it is the responsibility of each Scout to validate that trust within the community. In doing so, we can preserve and enhance the legacy of the BSA.
